Why boot making?
"Boot making has been a growing passion of mine. When I was 18 & living in Scotland, my flat was down the street from a cobbler shop. This is when the boot repair caught my eye. When I arrived back to the states, I took an apprenticeship at two different repair shops. A few years later I learned from two different boot-makers, the craft of handmade boots. Now I'm here making and teaching to keep this quality craftsmanship alive."

My advice, learn from as many shoe or boot makers as you can
The best techniques are the ones you haven't found yet. That may not be all true, but there is definitely more than one way to do something. That new way of designing, lasting, sewing, etc.. is waiting to be found by you.
